Somehow it’s February already! That means it’s officially Black History Month. This month is an amazing opportunity to recognize and support Black-owned brands. Highlighting black-owned items to shop is a small but impactful way to show our appreciation for their historic contributions to our society. Although, at COCOCOZY, we make sure to highlight black-owned brands every month. We’re always on the search for new and innovative brands that are inspirational. Check out 24 black owned Items to shop this month.
Women to Know in History
I think it’s important to highlight historic black women. So today I wanted to educate the COCOCOZY audience about Ida B. Wells (1862-1931). Ida B. Wells was a prominent Black investigative journalist, researcher, and educator in the early 1960s. She was an NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) founder who led a powerful anti-lynching crusade in the United States in the 1890s. She traveled overseas to confront white women during the suffrage movement who ignored the cruel act of lynching. Ida received backlash from women’s suffrage organizations but remained focused on her activism. Despite being at the founding meeting of the NAACP, her name is not mentioned as an official founder. Ida was a crusader for the black community and women’s suffrage. Learn more about her here.
P.S. The reason I founded my company Chirpyest was to give women the power to share their ideas. In my experience as a blogger and entrepreneur, I’ve noticed that brands aren’t inclusive and don’t give everyone the same opportunities. Now you can sign up and earn up to 30% cash back (actually cash, right to your Paypal account) just by shopping as you normally do and sharing with friends. There are no requirements to join! The Chirpyest browser plugin is free and makes it easy, by finding the cash back for you wherever you are shopping only.
